這是一款能讓四位玩家同時聯機的PS2網絡游戲，而這款《怪物獵人》最大賣點就是能讓玩家扮演怪物獵人，穿梭在廣大的游戲世界中狩獵各種龐然大物的怪物。由公布的截圖來看，游戲中會出現的怪獸包括有大型的飛龍和巨大的貓型怪物等，而玩家角色的裝甲和武器設計也表現出了非常有特色的設計，向我們初步展示了游戲中獨特的世界觀。事實上，整個游戲世界觀設定在一個融合科技與魔法的幻想大陸，玩家扮演的是接受委托狩獵怪物的獵人，必須接受委托任務捕捉危險的怪物，而且拿獎金購買武器道具提升自己等級，以挑戰更艱困的任務。
