人妖是中文中的一種蔑稱，指男扮女、女扮男、行為怪異、不守常法的人。但是這衹針對一般日常的人來說，對於經常要易裝的戲子則沒有此說。

現代的意思則有改變，特指心理變異者或者變性者，生活模式如異性一般的人。現代的這些變性人也會利用整形、整容等方式令自己更透徹，以配合性別定型環境下對性別的兩極化要求。
