Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is reportedly on the brink of joining local rivals Manchester City on a free transfer.
Hargreaves left United at the end of last season upon the expiry of his contract after enduring an injury-ravaged four years at Old Trafford.
He has attracted interest from several clubs over the summer and, after being linked with Leicester City, was offered a contract by West Bromwich Albion.
The former Bayern Munich man has yet to make a decision on whether to join the Baggies, with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur subsequently linked with offers.
However, the 30-year-old could now join Roberto Mancini's City after he was pictured leaving Bridgewater hospital following a three-hour medical.
City boss Mancini appears to be in the market to bring in another midfielder after showing an interest in AC Milan's experienced Mark van Bommel.
Hargreaves now appears to be an option to boost Mancini's squad as City prepare to compete in the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
The England international revealed at the weekend that he remains confident of playing 40 games this season and aims to force his way into Fabio Capello's plans for Euro 2012.

Owen Hargreaves undergoes medical at Manchester City

MANCHESTER CITY are set to offer Owen Hargreaves a shock Premier League lifeline.
The former Manchester United midfielder is available on a free transfer after his contract with the champions expired at the end of last season.
And City could snap up the man their bitter neighbours ditched for nothing — IF he proves he is over his fitness problems.
Hargreaves was pictured leaving Bridgewater hospital at midday after undergoing a three-hour medical.
The 30-year-old looked happy as he was greeted by City medical staff at the back of the building when he made his exit.
Hargreaves has been hampered by knee and hamstring injuries over the last four years.
But he insists he is now back to peak physical condition and attempted to prove as much by posting a string of videos on YouTube showing him being put through his paces.
