Adjudicator, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today's motion is that "The Implementation of Standard Working Hours in Hong Kong brings more advantages." We are for the motion as we absolutely believe that Standard Working Hours brings benefits to employees as well as employers. There are a number of reasons you should support today's motion.

Firstly, limited the working hours can prevent bringing harms to employees by the long working hours. I believe you will agree that the humans cannot work for a long time without a rest. It will bring not only physical but also mental problems to the employees undoubtedly, for example, a man keep working 24 hours without a rest, he will feel tired and yawn all the time. His unhealthy life will bring harms to his health and his emotion will become unstable. He will easily taken ill or being absentminded in his work. A limited working hours can therefore prevent the above damages to the employees.

It is a myth that lower the working hours will decrease the profitability. In fact, the more comfortable working environment you provided, the more profit you can learn. Just imagine you are a staff that continuously working for 24 hours. Because of tired, you cannot even finished a simple job. The efficiency and productivity of you will be dropped significantly. The advantage of Standard Working Hours, as a result, can be seen in the above example.
